Not really sure such a feature is within the scope of a software keyboard. No problem. A tip for a dream user (I only recently upgraded myself) is to edit the keylayout to turn either the camera or the call key into a search key. I personally think it's much more useful... Likewise my new phone has neither call key, search key or camera key, major bummer. I use the volume ...

Oh, and I oreffer all caps letters that are bold too. The little numbers and stuff are nice but it outs wear and tear in visibility too. This is available, look in settings. And what would you propose to move what you are writing closer to the keyboard? Can you not just scroll up slightly in whatev...

I second this. Please allow slide left and right after long-pressing to do something useful.

Not so much a bug but a quirk: I write two words, both wrong. The first gets corrected to a word I didn't want, the second is about to get corrected to the word I did want, but I don't 'accept', i.e. the suggestion is still in bar, and the wrong word is still in the input field. I tap the first word...

Sounds more effort than it's worth. I might suggest though: if you ever do do a substantial amount of code re-working to allow skins more control, perhaps skins could be allowed to specify custom keylout(s)? I hope you understand what I mean, a skin could come with a database/xml/whatever defined al...
