Just curious, what makes it so difficult to implement a single letter - considering there is already a user dictionary? i.e., why does a single letter added to the user dictionary not get accepted?

That's true. I just go to the arrow key page and use that. But would be nice if we could move the cursor without having to go to a separate page. I was hoping gestures would take care of this, but as a different topic has posted - the gestures don't work as well as we'd like.

It would be also cool if the written word shows instantly the actual capital (upper/lower case) on change, not until pressing the spacebar. Completely agree on this point. The thing is that these other applications are not keyboards (or are they?). Detecting gestures in a keyboard is something completely different, as you need to distinguish them from regular typing (especially multitouch typing) That's a good point.
