dictionary does not add ' automatically

Would it be possible for the dictionary to not add apostrophes automatically with the T9 input layout? That way it will be easier to differentiate between words when using T9. The biggest example of this is the difference between "it's" and "its". I use "it's" more often, but I don't want it to come up if I don't hit the 1 button to add in an apostrophe. Another smaller example of this is "cant" and "can't."
