Double-space to add period after certain symbols

I'm trying out the trial version and it's almost perfect for my needs. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't add a full stop/period with a double space after ANY symbols at all - even ones with which you can grammatically complete a sentence with. Granted this isn't often a problem, but it is annoying if you finish a sentence with a bracket or quotation mark. So, typing in:
I enjoyed that film (really)
...Then hitting double-space won't give you a full stop - which is a bit annoying, as it did work on my previous iPhone! It would be very useful if this could be fixed for punctuation marks such as brackets and also quotation marks as well. Other than that, I'm liking the app and am considering buying it (if this can be fixed).
