"EN" key - purpose?

"EN" key - purpose?
On the keyboard, what's the "En" key for (next to the 123 key and the comma key) on the bottom row. If it's just to show what language we're in, is it really necessary? That button could be taken up by something more useful perhaps?

Hello
you don't need this button if you only use English... It appeared because you checked "English" in the "Language button" option, but you can remove it
